Soft Shell Ladies Hat

Materials Needed: 2 skein of Homespun yarn in complimentary colors, K hook

Note: Colors will be referred to as the following

Main color - MC

Complimentary Color - CC

I did not fasten off after each round I just picked up the color I needed and dropped it to the inside of my work. You can fasten off if you would like but if you choose not to you will never see the yarn on the inside.

Directions:

Note: beginning ch 2 or ch 3 counts as 1st hdc or dc throughout pattern

with MC, ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring

Round 1 - ch 2, work 11 hdc in ring just formed, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (12)

Round 2 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, work 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (24)

Round 3 - with CC , ch 3, 2 dc in same st as joining, skip a st,* work 3 dc in next st, skip a st* repeat around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (36)

Round 4 - with MC, ch 2, hdc in each st around and in each sp between the 3 dcs on previous round, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (46)

Round 5 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 4 sts, *work 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 4 sts* continue around ending with hdc in next 5 sts, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (55)

Round 6 - with CC, ch 3, 2 dcs in same st as joining, skip 2 sts, *3dcs in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3 (54)

Round 7 - with MC, ch 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (54)

Round 8-9 - ch 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (54)

Round 10 - with CC, ch 3, 2 dcs in same st as joining, skip 2 sts, *3dcs in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat around, you will only have one st to last at the end, join with a sl st to the top of ch 3 (54)Fasten off CC

Round 11 - with MC, ch 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (54)

Round 12-14 - ch 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (54)

Round 15 - ch 2 hdc in each st around, decrease 3 stitches, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (51)

Round 16 - working in BLO, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (51)

Round 17 - working in both loops, ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to the top of ch 2 (51) Fasten off MC

Round 18 - attach CC, ch 3, 2 dc in same st as joining, skip 2 sts,* work 3 dc in next st, skip 2 sts* repeat around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 Fasten off.

Roll up at round 16 for the brim. Enjoy!!!
