Soft Ladies Hat

Materials Needed: 1 skein of Homespun yarn, K hook

Special Stitches:

FPDC- YO, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete dc

BPDC- YO, reaching over top of piece and working on opposite side (right side) of work, insert hook from right to left around vertical post of next st, YO and draw yarn through, YO and complete dc.

Reverse Single Crochet - Working from left to right, insert hook in next st to the right, yo, draw through st, complete as for sc. If you are left handed you will work from right to left. If you have trouble with this stitch go to the following link for a pictorial.

Note: beginning ch 2 counts as 1st hdc throughout pattern

ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring

Round 1 - ch 2, work 11 hdc in ring just formed, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (12)

Round 2 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, work 2 hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (24)

Round 3 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next st, *work 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next st* continue around join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (36)

Round 4 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 2 sts, *work 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 2 sts* continue around join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (48)

Round 5 - ch 2, hdc in same st as joining, hdc in next 3 sts, *work 2 hdc in next st, hdc in next 3 sts* continue around join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (60)

Round 6-11 - ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (60)

Round 12 - ch 2, hdc in each st around, decreasing 4 sts evenly around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 3, (56)

Round 13-14 - ch 2, hdc in each st around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 2 (56)

Round 15 - ch 2, hdc in each st around, decreasing 6 sts evenly around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 3, (50)

Round 16 - ch 2, hdc in BLO only of each stitch around, join with a sl st to the top of beg ch 2 ( 50)

Round 17-18 - ch 2, *FPDC in next st, BPDC in next st* repeat around, join with a sl st to top of beg ch 3, (50)

Round 19 - ch 1, turn reverse single crochet in each st around (50)
