Easter Egg Frog Buddy

Materials Needed: Small amounts of green and black yarn, size G hook, sewing needle, 1 large Easter egg

Directions:

Body of Frog:

ch 2

Round 1- work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook

Note: you are now working in continuous round, use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round

Round 2 - work 2 scs in each st around (12)

Round 3 - (2 sc in 1st st, 1sc in next st) repeat around (18)

Round 4 - (2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 2 sts) repeat around (24)

Round 5-16 - sc in each st around (24)

Round 17- (sc in next 4 sts, dec sc) repeat 4 times, join with a sl st to next sc, Fasten off. (20)

Arms:

Make 2

ch 2

Round 1 - work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook

Round 2 - 8 - sc in each ch around, using a stitch marker to mark each row

working the frogs fingers now:

sl st in next st, *ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs, sl st in next sc on round 8* repeat until you have 4 fingers, fasten off leaving a long length of yarn to sew with. Feed that length of yarn through the top of the frog arm.

sew to body as shown in picture.

Legs:

Make 2

Round 1 - work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook

Round 2 - 6 - sc in each ch around, using a stitch marker to mark each row

working his feet

sl st in next sc, ch 7, sc in 3rd ch from hook and in next 4 chs, sl st in same sc of leg, (sl st in next sc of leg, turn, sc in next 5 sc of foot, ch 3, turn sc in 5 sc, sl st in same sc of leg) fasten off leaving a long length of yarn to sew with. Feed that length of yarn through the top of the frog leg and sew to body as shown in picture.

Eyes:

with green yarn, ch 5 join with a sl st to form a ring, ch 1, work sc, hdc, 2 dcs, hdc, sc in ring just formed. Fasten off. Push all the stitches just made to one half of the circle.

Center of eye

with black yarn, ch 2, work 4 scs in 2nd ch from hook, join with a sl st to first sc, glue in the center of the eye. Sew to top of frogs head starting on round 3.

Mouth:

with black yarn, leave a length of yarn to sew with at the front of the mouth ch 5, Fasten off leaving a length of yarn at the end to sew with. Sew to round 9 of frog body.

After the holiday is over you can take the egg out and sew up the bottom of the frog and it can be a small stuffed animal.

Note: the center of the eye can come loose so this toy is not recommended for a small child.
