Easter Egg Butterfly Buddy

 

 

Materials Needed: Small amounts of pink, variegated and black yarn, size G hook, sewing needle, 1 large Easter egg

Directions:

Body of Butterfly:

ch 2

Round 1- work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook 

Note: you are now working in continuous round, use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round

Round 2 - work 2 scs in each st around (12)

Round 3 - (2 sc in 1st st, 1sc in next st) repeat around (18)

Round 4 - (2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 2 sts) repeat around (24)

Round 5-16 - sc in each st around (24)

Round 17-  (sc in next 4 sts, dec sc) repeat 4 times, join with a sl st to next sc, Fasten off.  (20)

Antenna:

attach black to round 2, ch 6, work 3 scs in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in next 4 sts. Fasten off  repeat on other side of round 2. 

Wings:

Make 2:

Leaving a long length of yarn to sew with on one of the wings.

ch 4, join with a sl st to form a ring

Row 1-  ch 3, work 2 dcs in ring, turn

Row 2 - ch 3 work 2 dcs in 1st st, ch 1, skip a st,  work 3 dcs in next st, turn

Row 3 - ch 3 work 2 dcs in 1st st, ch 1, skip 2 sts,  work 3 dcs in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk 2 sts work 3 dc in last st, turn

Row 4 - ch 3 work 2 dcs in 1st st, ch 1, skip 2 sts,  *work 3 dcs in next ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat twice,  sk 2 sts work 3 dc in last st, turn

Row 5 - ch 3 work 2 dcs in 1st st, ch 1, skip 2 sts,  *work 3 dcs in next ch 1 sp, ch 1* repeat 3 times,  sk 2 sts work 3 dc in last st, turn

Fasten off.

Finishing:

Sew eyes over round 6 and 7.

Sew wings to back on round 7 and tack the wings on round 3 of the wings so they will stand out.
