April Square #1

 

 

Materials Needed: worsted weight yarn, I hook

Directions: The beginning chain is what it took for me to get a 12 inch square, if you are having trouble getting this square to be 12 inches chain a multiple of 2 chains plus one for the base chain to get the desired chain that you need.

Special stitches: TRFP-  YO twice, insert hook from front to back and to front again around the vertical post (upright part) of  st, YO and draw yarn through, (YO and draw through 2 loop) repeat 3 times 

ch 43

Row 1 - dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in each ch across, turn

Row 2 - ch 1(counts as 1st sc) skip 1st st, sc in next st and in each st across working last st in top of turning ch, turn

Row 3 - ch 3, (counts as 1 dc) sk 1st st, *dc in next st, 1TRFP around post of dc that is a row below* repeat across until last 2 sts, dc in each st, turn

Row 4 - repeat row 2

Row 5 - ch 3, (counts as 1 dc) sk 1st st, * 1TRFP around post of dc that is a row below, dc in next st,* repeat across until last 2 sts, dc in each st, turn

Repeat row 2-5 until piece measures 12 inches, fasten off.
