APPLE POTHOLDER |
|
Materials needed: 1 ball red cotton worsted weight, small amount of green cotton worsted weight, H hook, sewing needle.

| Directions:
This potholder is crocheted using 2 strand of yarn at all times. I only had one ball of red so I used the end on the outside of the ball and pulled the other end out of the middle. ch 20 Row 1 - hdc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch Row 2 - work 2 hdc in first st, sc in each remaining st up to the last st and work 2 hdc in the last st, ch 2 turn Row 3 - repeat row 2 Row 4- hdc in each st across Row 5 - repeat row 2 Row 6 - repeat row 4 Row 7 - repeat row 2 Row 8 - dec hdc in first 2 sts, hdc in remaining sts up to the last 2 sts work dec hdc in last 2 sts, ch 2 turn Row 9 - repeat row 8 Row 10 - repeat row 4 Row 11 - repeat row 8 Row 12 - repeat row 4 Row 13 - repeat row 8 Row 14 - repeat row 4 Row 15- 17 - repeat row 8 Shaping the bottom of the apple: hdc in next 5 sts ch 1 turn sc in the last 5 sts just worked, Fasten off. Skip 3 sts in the middle of the bottom of the apple and attach yarn in the 4th st work 1 hdc in each of the next 5 sts, ch 1 turn sc in each of the 5 sts just worked. Fasten off. Attach ONE strand of yarn anywhere on the outside of the apple and sc evenly around the entire apple working 2 sc on the inside part of the bottom of the apple. Leaf and stem: ch 9 sc in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook , hdc in next ch, dc in next 2 chs, tc in next 3 sts, ch 6, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch , sl st into side of leaf. Fasten off. With red sew leaf to the top of the apple.
