AMERICAN PRIDE SQUARE

I was so deeply touched by all of the terror that  happened on September 11,  2001.  I could not crochet yesterday because I was so shook up about what happened. Today I felt very proud to live in America and felt like I needed to design a square in honor of all of the people who have lost their lives and  all those that were touched by this tragedy.

Materials Needed:

Small amounts of worsted weight yarn in red, white, and blue. Size H hook

Directions

With blue  ch 4 join with a sl st to form a ring

Row 1-   ch 3, work 2 dc in ring, ch 1, *work 3 dc in ring ch 1 *  repeat from *to * 3 times

Row 2 -  ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, in next ch 1 sp work 3dc, ch 1, 3 dc, *dc in next 3 sts , in next ch 1 sp work 3dc, ch 1, 3 dc* repeat from *to * 2 more times

Row 3- 5  ch 3, dc in each dc across to the ch 1 sp on previous round, work 2dc, ch 1, 2dc in the ch 1 sp repeat this around (note you will not end in a corner, you will need to continue you around and work dc in until you get to the beginning ch3 of each row )  fasten off blue.

Row 6 -  attach yarn in any ch 1 corner sp with a ch 3, work a  dc, ch1, 2dc in same ch 1 sp, dc in each dc across in next ch 1 sp work 2dc ch 1 2 dc continue around and fasten off red.

With white attach yarn around the post of any corner dc on row 3. This will feel a bit awkward, you will put your hook around the post and work a back post sl st around each dc around row 3 join with a sl st to 1st st. fasten off.
